The Montgomery home is complete!!

I just can’t believe I am going to be a homeowner. I thought to myself as I applied to the Habitat program, “you just never know.” I am so glad I applied! I got to experience a one day framing blitz with the Habitat 500 riders as well as working with Women Build volunteers. Working along side Harold Wentland, my dad (Brian Montgomery) and his friend Trudy Saarikoski who were with me each step of the way is something I will never forget. I would like to thank all the volunteers, my friends and family members who have worked countless hours to help me build a home. This is all something I would not have known if I had not applied. Thanks Habitat for helping me build a home for me and my family!
-June Montgomery

We are grateful for all the volunteers and donors who have made this homeownership dream a reality for the Montgomery family. Habitat Minnesota was a major sponsor of this home which is designated the 1800th Habitat home in Minnesota. Their sponsorship, the “Bike Home”, was made possible by the Habitat 500 bike ride. We would like to thank all the riders and all the volunteers including the wonderful Hibbing community volunteers that made this bike event and home sponsorship possible! June’s home was built “green”, according to the Minnesota Green Communities Guidelines. Habitat also partnered with the Rural Renewable Energy Alliance who provided a solar furnace to further complement the green aspects of this home. The Wells Fargo Foundation, US Bank Corporation and many individual and business donors also made this dream a reality for the Montgomery family.
