Building History

HOME: #47: The Simola Family

Location: Hibbing

Date Started: July 5, 2011

Date Complete: March 23, 2012

The home, sponsored by the Wells Fargo Foundation and US Bank Corp, began in July 2011 with Habitat for Humanity Care-a-Vanners, several Women Build events, and community volunteers. It has truly been a community effort as so many have joined together to partner with the Simola family to build this affordable home and make their dream come true!

I would like to thank everyone who volunteered, for all his or her hard work and prayers in completing our home. It was amazing to work with volunteers who put so much compassion into their work as if they were working on their own home.

When my family was chosen to build a home through Habitat for Humanity, we felt as though we were truly blessed, little did we know being chosen was just the beginning. In building our home, we have met so many truly wonderful people, and have learned many new useful skills.

An event like this cannot happen overnight; it takes many months of planning and details. We were fortunate enough to have a motivated team of volunteers who were willing to help us complete our home in less than a year. Because of their kindness in volunteering their time to help build our home, they have made us feel exceptionally blessed and fortunate. Because of owning our home through Habitat, I will be able to continue my education and not have to worry about my children’s health due to poor living conditions. I will be able to do things that will change my family’s life for the better. I am sincerely grateful to God and all the wonderful volunteers for helping my family and me accomplish our dream, of owning a home.
