Katie Hackett applied for a home through Habitat in July 2013. She said she needed a place quickly. Less than six months later, a newly renovated home was ready for her and her two sons.
Hackett’s new place is not just any home. The house was made using two-by-fours from the Paul Wellstone memorial, and it was built for another Habitat client eight years ago. When that recipient’s situation improved and her family grew, she moved out. Now, she is able to make the house available to Habitat once again.
